Video Creation Challenge

Most patient education exists in PDF / printed documents or long educational videos usually directed at a parent or caregiver. We are partnering with you to create videos "made by kids, for kids"! Challenge your creativity to create short 120-second length videos that are fun, engaging, and educational. Open to all participants!

Things to consider:

  • Think TikTok, how do creators grasp your attention?
  • Diagnoses include but are not limited to Cancer, Heart-related diseases, Diabetes, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Asthma, Orthopedics
  • Pick a category(s) from the perspective of a patient, how would you tell this story?:
    • My Story- The patient's story
    • Diagnosis 101- What is the diagnosis? Common treatments?
    • What to do- Major actions to consider about your diagnosis
    • What not to do- Major actions you cannot do with your diagnosis
    • Things I've Learned- What has your diagnosis taught you?

Inspiration to get you started: Consider the diagnosis of Asthma, you may get started by making a fun creative 120-second video addressing any of the topics above, such as "Top 5 things I avoided as a kid with Asthma!"

Curriculum Creation Contest (C3 Challenge)

Calling all professionals and tech connoisseurs! Help us train the next generation to lead in STEAM. Help us build a library of training content for participants to tap into and gain some awesome skills and knowledge! Open to all tech experts and professionals, share your knowledge!

Things to consider:

  • What type of learner are you? What has worked for you?
  • Engaging and useful tutorials
  • Tech Khan Academy
  • Competencies to create for but not limited to: Graphic design, Coding, Videography, Mobile app development and more!

Inspiration to get you started: Say you want to teach the basics of videography. Step into the shoes of content creators and make a YouTube channel! What will you do to keep your audience engaged and entertained? How can you make sure they learn the most important basics of videography? Get creative! Maybe you don’t want to be a YouTuber, what content have you used before that has helped you? Maybe a TikTok series or website? Any submission helps!

Submissions for the C3 Challenge will be taken starting February 1st via email to innovation@childrens.com. Please indicate your name in the email, submissions with names that are not registered in the Hackathon will not be counted.

Culinary Challenge

Join this sub-challenge if you have a knack for cooking! Submit your favorite healthy and delicious recipe for a chance to be chosen to cook it live in front of a panel of judges and potentially win! Open to all participants in DFW area (finalists will present live to Judges in Dallas, TX)!

Things to consider:

  • Healthy but tasty
  • Healing properties
  • Top Chef
  • Would a registered dietitian approve?

Inspiration to get you started: Pretend you are on an episode of Top Chef or maybe even Chopped, and you want to impress the panel of judges who also happen to be registered dietitians. What meal would you make them? Is it one that already exists or one that you put your twist on? Remember you want to make it healthy; you could take your favorite dish and veganize it! Or maybe you want to make it high in protein. Whatever you do, get creative and make sure it’s tasty as well...you may get the chance to cook it for real!
